What to pack for Vacation?
One fine day while I was mulling over my future plans in life, impromptu a plan of vacation popped up. The discussion took place in January and then the plan went for hibernation for few months. Plan in advance for the trip. Finally, in April we all booked the tickets online for July and applied for Visa in VFS. By may end our document verification and biometric scanning was done and in mid of June, we finally received the message we were desperately waiting for… Our Visa was ready… we were going for a vacation.
Finally, so now we had one month to get ready for the vacation.
I started with weather in the first week of July. I started my list “what to take?” “what to buy?” and “Shopping”
Since I’m not bothered with many other things my first priority was “what am I going to wear?” it was most essential so I took out my almirah and starting segregating clothes. Half were blue and nothing was new, so hello online shopping here I come…
I started carting shorts, dresses, tops, lowers, shoes for my trip. It’s most essential that firstly you study the type of clothes allowed in the country you’re visiting. Few countries are pretty open so you could enjoy wearing shorts, skirts, dresses and enjoy to the fullest. Take cardigan just in case of cool weather due to rains.
A must for any trip is Comfy shoes. So you must pack sneakers or shoes besides one fancy heel to go with evening dresses.
keep a shrug and leggings in your backpack for few historical places. Few of them has a strict policy of below knee clothes and covered shoulders.
Take few extra days clothes in case you’ve to change more often. Like for 10 days take 15 days clothes etc.
These would cover most of the cloth packing. Once it is done most of your work is done.
Toiletries & Cosmetics:
Carry your own fav shampoo and conditioner weather and change of place could be harsh on your hair. Take:
- Hand sanitizer
- Wet wipes
- Toothbrush & paste
Carry your cosmetics for day wear and evening party. So I always carry:
With these things, I would be ready to face anything.
Carry comb, lipstick, sunscreen, Kajal, facewash, hand sanitizer, wet wipes, moisturizer in your backpack in case you need touch up.
After your clothes are finalized you could move on to accessorizing the attire so carry on:
take things which could match with many clothes like multi-colored earrings or necklaces. Try not to take too much costly gold or precious jewelry for a new place.
Travel light So that it’s easy to carry if need arises:
- Sling bag
Keep a Clutch handy for evening dinners or parties just in case.
Convert in advance in the bank after showing your visa for the trip so that you don’t have to do it in a hustle at airport or exchange centers.
Keep most generalized currency like Dollars/ Euro/ Pounds there easily converted and acknowledged in most of the places.
- Get International Roaming activated on phones. Contact the operator for plans.
- Most countries have different sockets since they use DC so carry adaptor for charging.
- Keep your passport on you all the time. It’s your only identity there.
- Don’t carry all your cash in one place.
- Take care of your valuables
Travel safe, smart and light.
Enjoy the Trip.
