Basic Skills that every Woman should know. #SuperBloggerChallenge2018

Basic Skills that every Woman should know.

There are many things which we do independently and it saves our useful time and hard earned money too. To be independent means more than living alone, it means you rely on yourself for taking important decisions, face the adversities thrown your way and most importantly you don’t fold over while being battered by life. That’s where basic skills come in picture.

Who doesn’t want to be independent?

Let’s start with basic few skills that you should master:

  • Driving:car-2606586_1920

It’s most important skill when you don’t know it and it’s most useful skill when you know it. That feeling of helplessness which you get just because you don’t know driving in an urgent situation like picking or dropping the kid at school when they missed the bus or buying some medicine urgently is very depressing. It makes you aggravated and depressed at the same time. So dear pick up the directory and enroll in driving school its way easier than it seems. When you can put the right amount of salt n pepper in a dish without looking you can learn driving too.

While you are at it to learn to change a flat tire on your own it’s a must.

  • Swimming:

fun-1850709_1920 It’s considered very important basic life skills. It should be learned at early stages of life if possible since most drowning cases are aged under 16. This skill could save you or help you in saving others in need too. After reading and writing it’s the 3rd most important basic skill to be learned for survival.

  • Self-defense:

Most of the times we are dependent on our spouse, brother or father to protect us. I’m not advising to quit that support but the extra bit of knowledge in self-defense could be helpful in very unwanted difficult situations. Nowadays women self-defense classes are organized by many women empowerment groups and even police. To enroll in one and learn to defend yourself, it could save your life or you could help someone in need.

  • Basic Home Maintenance knowledge:

woman-2759503_1920 Few of very small things could cause us a big hassle so learn to change bulb/ tube light/ starter/ fuse. Learn to check for trip buttons on fuse box (Let me caution you too that you should take precautions since playing with electricity is no game. So wear heavy duty electrical repellent gloves & plastic soul footwear. Never touch a socket or gadget with wet hands or feet. Use plastic or wood stool for support, not metal). Fixing leaking faucet/shower or unclog a drain. These are very small but very big problems and one should know how to deal with them.

  • CPR/ First Aid:

recovery-2154919_1920 Everyone knows to call for an ambulance in an emergency but in the meanwhile, just basic first aid or CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) could make a huge difference to the victim. Please keep the presence of mind and follow the most basic rule “DON’T PANIC”. If you don’t know hospital or ambulance numbers always call 100. Police are there to help us. Just to enlighten you the new rules are more friendly to the person who’s helping the victim, no one would detain you for statement or inquiry. Be a good citizen help the ones in need.

There are many more things too which might come handy if you know it like:

  • Internet management
  • Online payments
  • Budgeting
  • Tax payments
  • Cooking
  • Sewing (least requirement is button repair)
  • Making backups and restoring from them

and many more if you’ll come to think on it. I’ve just listed few of many which I thought to be most important. Feel free to let me know if I missed any, I’ll add it to ‘TO DO LIST’.

Don’t delay important things and learn them because there’s no age limit for learning.

Be Independent, Self-Dependent, Modern Women.
