In this digital world, the relationships prosper according to your speed of typing and number of social networks you are registered with. With your growing friend’s list and likes, your popularity grows, with every update and comments your group widens. Is that all you need to make your relationships work?
Our social obligations have reduced to adding family in Facebook and by pressing a like button or animations on networks. Gone are the days of traveling in trains to attend a wedding or rushing to be together for Diwali or Holi.
Are we becoming more social or antisocial?
Museum trips have been replaced by online movies or TV series. Books have been replaced by tablets or laptops. The family get-togethers have been replaced by the race of status update. Photo albums are now replaced by selfies. Are we making bonds or breaking relationships?
As progress is visualized in this country it’s bringing the evils too.
How do we move forward from here?
Are we willing to fight back?
Do we want to fight back?
Is Our relationship worth fighting for?
I can’t answer these questions for you but I could only stress on the points we need to mend to bring progress but still retain our social bonds.
How do we move forward from here?
- Devote time to relationships. They’re worth it.
- Plan a family gathering at least once a year.
- Take a vacation with your loved ones.
- Meet friends instead of just talking about WhatsApp groups.
- Go on a shopping spree with siblings instead of online shopping.
- Dedicate the weekend for family and friends rather than phone.
Be the change because one small steps at a time and you’ll be running marathons soon.
Should we be willing to fight back?
Definitely, we’re willing to fight for our loved ones and relationships. We just don’t realize how far we’re moving from each other. So choose to be in functions, choose people rather than gadgets.
Social bonding is very essential for mental development. The human race is not meant to be a solitary creature we strive to be touched, to be loved and be cared for. This superficial cyber world is not what we require to mend the bonds. Find the balance between technology and relationship, Love would definitely follow.

I’m glad that you liked my post
I am glad that you spoke about these issues which are often neglected .We do talk to our parents and siblings through social media which has helped us stay connected but it is never the same as connecting eye to eye and face to face .
Valid points put together. Time for a little introspection for all of us. Thanks for sharing 😊
your post state today’s problem with solution. in my family I feel technology rules more than relationship and that sometimes hurt me a lot
Indeed thought provoking.. We need more of such articles regularly so that many could be benefited.
Cheers!

thoughtful interesting articles
I loved reading this post.
I totally agree with you .. we need to spend quality time with our loved ones atleast on weekends.
You know this is something is what we have to.question to ourselves…I have written series on this some we’re like…social birthday and social marriage…really we need more quality time with loved ones rather being only connected with them on social media.
A very relevant topic for the prevailing times. Relationships need a conscious effort today to not get affected by the deluge of technology
Nice post. Technology kills our relations. we are not playing on ground games coz we are playing online games. we forgot to respect elders. all are cool dude now. No solutions 🙁
